The Glenmore Plaza Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Avalon, the only town on Santa Catalina, a popular island off of southern California. Commonly known as Catalina, the island is a picturesque tourist destination, although much of the island was purchased in 1975 by the Santa Catalina Island Conservancy and now is preserved against development. Most visitors to Catalina come for water sports, hiking, horseback riding and cycling trails.
