Location. Birds Ferry Lodge is located in a 33-acre rural countryside environment, in Westport, New Zealand, eight kilometers from historic Charleston and 17 kilometers from the Westport city center.
Hotel Features. A small country lodge, Birds Ferry Lodge offers a variety of activities, including ecotours, airplane and helicopter sightseeing and bicycling. The grounds include a garden, a patio and a picnic area. Inside, the lodge features a guest lounge with a fireplace, and a library. Massage services also are available. Amenities include flat-panel televisions with satellite service, DVD players and wireless Internet access (surcharge) and local calls. Microwaves and refrigerators also are included, as are Marlborough toiletries and heated towel racks. The cottage and some lodge rooms include kitchens complete with all appliances, cookware, dishes and utensils.

Expert Tip. Historic Charleston was founded in the 1860s as a gold rush town. Today, it is an adventure village that draws travelers who come to explore its limestone caves and rock climb. A recreation reserve and an old gold mine also are in the area.
